SUV maker Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) unveiled its much-anticipated Born Electric range on November 26, with the launch of two electric vehicles based on its latest 'INGLO' platform, an important shift in Mahindra's electric mobility journey.
Mahindra introduced the XEV 9e and BE 6e in Chennai, with deliveries expected to commence in the final quarter of the financial year. While BE 6e will start from Rs 18.90 lakh, XEV 9e will have an introductory price of Rs 21.90 lakh, the company revealed.
Both products are part of the all-new Born Electric range, and based on the 'INGLO' Architecture. Mahindra claims that the new platform creates better interior space and offers the lightest flat-floor platform for an electric vehicle.
INGLO will feature light, flat-floor skateboard structures, along with high-density battery technology. The company claims this platform will maximizes cabin space, offer enhanced comfort, improved seating, and eliminate the central tunnel, a common feature in all the ICE platforms.
"With commanding exteriors and thoughtfully curated interiors, the BE 6e and XEV 9e set new benchmarks in aesthetics and functionality. The BE 6e flaunts edgy, athletic silhouette and race-inspired agility, whereas the XEV 9e exudes sophistication with its suave SUV coupe design, blending indulgent luxury with dynamic performance," M&M said in a press release.
Coming back to the vehicles, the front design of XEV 9e comes with connected LED DRLs along with a glowing logo. The XEV 9e packs features like 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, ADAS and more. It gets semi-active dampers on offer. The XEV 9e comes with LFP batteries with two battery packs, a 59kWh and a 79kWh. The company claims range of 656km from the 79kWh battery pack. The vehicle has a real world range of 500+ km.
The Mahindra BE 6e, meanwhile, comes with a sloping roofline. The BE 6e has a strong stance and it runs on 20-inch alloy wheels and the rear has an aerodynamic spoiler. The vehicle comes feature packes, with front parking sensors and a driver-centric dashboard, the company said. It offers two battery packs, a 59kWh and a 79kWh. It has a claimed range of 682km from the 79kWh battery pack. For safety, the BE 6e comes with 7 airbags.
Teasers of the SUVs shared by the automaker had previosuly shown that the models were equipped with features like ADAS, dual-zone climate control, among others.
