Equity markets witnessed a decline for the second consecutive day and closed flat with a negative bias.

GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX traded lower by 305 points, or 1.17 per cent, at 25,725, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for negative start on Thursday.

US stocks flat The S&P 500 ended little changed on Wednesday, with technology shares gaining but investors nervous about Middle East tensions and more U.S. labor data due this week.

Japanese stocks rose after the nation's new prime minister damped speculation about another interest-rate increase, weakening the currency. Oil gained for a third day on Middle East tensions.
